Are you engaging in risky sexual behaviour and want some help in making a change?

We offer free and confidential short-term counselling and community referral services for gay, bisexual, men who have sex with men (MSM) who have difficulties engaging in safer sex practices.  We recognize that decision-making is often impacted by factors that go beyond the mere availability of condoms or knowledge of the risks for HIV and STIs. These factors can include relationship difficulties, partner abuse, mood changes, substance misuse, lack of comfort with negotiation, loneliness, or experiences of racism. A counsellor will be able to help you explore how these factors impact your ability to engage in safer sex practices, identify strengths and give you the tools to develop healthy coping mechanisms

If you’re thinking of making some changes or want to talk about things that are impacting your sexual health, make an appointment with Making the Links.

Have you recently tested positive for HIV and want support in figuring out the next steps?

It can be overwhelming adjusting to a diagnosis of a chronic illness on top of having to figure out what services are out there. We are here to support you throughout the process of navigating the healthcare and social service system.  A counsellor will be assigned to you, who can help connect you with a HIV primary care physician, provide you with a safe space to talk, and refer you to community agencies who can assist with any other social supports (e.g. support groups, social events, etc.) and practical needs (e.g. income assistance, drug coverage).  Our goal is to have someone  that you can reach out to for assistance if you ever experience any bumps along the road (e.g. loss of drug coverage, substance misuse, mental health concerns, under-housed, etc.). That way your access to treatment and care is not compromised and your health and well-being can remain a priority.
